Step away from the rush of daily life and experience the calming practice of Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement. This beginner-friendly class introduces you to working with natural materials in a mindful and creative way.

No prior experience is needed. This class is designed for complete beginners, as well as anyone curious about Japanese culture, floral design, or mindful creative practice.


What You’ll Do

In this hands-on experience, you will:
• Learn the foundational history and principles of Ikebana
• Explore basic structure, balance, and composition techniques
• Create your own seasonal arrangement to take home
• Experience Ikebana as a focused, mindful creative practice

What’s Included

This is an all-inclusive experience. Everything needed to complete your arrangement is provided in class.

• Fresh floral materials for use during class
• A container and kenzan (flower frog) to take home
• A completed arrangement to take home at the end of class
• A beginner learning guide

All additional tools and materials required for instruction are provided for use during class.


What to Expect

This class is designed to be calm, supportive, and beginner-friendly. Class size is intentionally kept small to allow for individual attention and a relaxed pace.

Classes may run as either small group sessions or one-on-one depending on registration. The experience and instruction remain the same regardless of format.


Instructor

This class is led by Leslie Wier-Fincher, a certified Ikebana teacher with the Sogetsu School of Ikebana.

This class can stand alone as a one-time creative experience or serve as a starting point for deeper study. Guidance is offered during class for participants interested in continuing their Ikebana practice or exploring formal study pathways.
